I personally know what it is like to physically faint and collapse from stress, and it is so true that when we reach that point we know that the stress in life has gone too far. Dr. Hart's book was very helpful for me. It is also helpful to remember that some of the things that we stress over are actually not even worth feeling stressed about in the big picture. Reading the Bible helps us with this by reminding us what is really important in life. This also reminds me of the serenity prayer often used in AA and other step groups, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."Chelsea Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05467971185544983167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4327598978675535878.post-19789769591103945272012-04-09T19:12:00.784-07:002012-04-09T19:12:00.784-07:00Excellent points, Melissa. I completely agree that...Excellent points, Melissa. I completely agree that too often we do not trust God, and because of this, we let stress control us. Recently, I was reminded of John 15:5 which says, "I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." So often, we are tempted to handle our stress alone without looking to God. We forget that without Him, we cannot do anything. Thank you for your post!B.
