Always Thankful

I came across this article and thought that it would be perfect with Thanksgiving right around the corner. Rachelle Friedman had every reason to be happy and thankful before an accident left her paralyzed. Now, she has to endure a whole new host of challenges. Despite this, her spirit and determination are stronger than ever. Her two main goals are to get married and to become independent. Personally, I think that an incident such as the one Rachelle continues to go through could easily make an individual bitter. This is not so for Friedman. She maintains that, "We all have something to be thankful for." This fact is certainly true. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the abundant blessings God bestows upon us.

It is easy to take what we have for granted. This includes family, friends, health, and financial stability. Friedman is definitely choosing to display an attitude of gratitude and to move forward. She is a quintessential example of living a full life. She admits to sometimes being frustrated over what she cannot do, but quickly moves to dwell on what she can.

  1. Thanks for this, Mary! What an encouraging story. How true it is that we sometimes forget how much we truly have to be thankful for. We all need to be more like Rachelle.

  4. This is a good article and neatly written. There is always something to be thankful for and it is sad that we have to see tragedy to notice the things to be thankful for. This is a good article of lady who is thankful regardless of her situation. Rachelle, well done and God bless!

    Good article Mary!

  5. Good piece! Bible says give thanks for He is good and His mercy endures forever, Psalm136:1. Like Rachelle, always think about the goodness of God; it helps you maintain a positive attitude towards life and that you are not alone in your situation. He is a good and gorgeous God. I just love Him.

  6. Wow. This was encouraging to read. I often find myself wondering how I would act in a situation like this-- if I would still be strong in my faith with God, or if I would feel angry about my circumstances. It is great to see a young woman stay positive in such a horrible situation. She is an encouragement to other young women.
