Music that heals

This article is really interesting because it brings another testament of hope and prayer into the hearts of everyday people. A musician by the name of Jamie Hood wrote a song for the son of his friend who tragically got severe burns over 80% of his body. http://www.morgancountycitizen.com/?q=node/16640
The boy, Alfred Real, was in a coma and there was not a great deal of hope for recovery from the outside world for a time. The family had been suffering through this tragedy and Jamie Hood inspired more than just the community with his song "Surrounded by Angels". Through times of difficulty, almost all of us can say that music has played a part in bringing us back to a "moment". Whether it be good or bad, this one is said to have brought the boys family hope and though Alfred Real was in a coma and severely burned over his body, they were inspired. The bible speaks of praise music filling hearts with hope of miracle and in this verse of one possibly in a coma with faith "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations." Psalms 57: 7-9 One can argue that the human spirit is one of the hardest thing to break. I tend to agree with that most of the time. Yet there stood a man whose son had suffered one of the scariest things that happens to any living being. Situations like these are tragic, but in the wake of their tragedy, Alfred Real walked home with his father out of the coma and into a life ahead of him.

  1. After reading your post, it reminded me of a book that I read when I was in my high school year. The book was a testimony of himself who also had a severe burn similar to the boy you mentioned, Alfred Real. I was challenged from his testimony on how he did not give up on God, and walked on his new life. Reading from your post made me think, what if I experience similar tragic, would I still be able to hold unto God? How much will my life change? Although, I cannot answer any of these questions right now, but for I am assured because God has promised all of us that God will never give us temptations that we cannot tolerate.
